Outdoor Eating Areas Upgrade for Kava Restaurant, Todmorden
The main objective of this small vegetarian restaurant was to improve their existing outdoor area. A raised deck overlooked the canal but an awning was the only protection from the elements. Furthermore, a significant updraft meant that even on a fine day, al fresco dining could be a chilly experience. Secondly, the owners wanted to improve access from the restaurant itself.
Customer comfort was the primary consideration but it was also essential that the view across the canal wasn’t compromised.

- In addition, the deck was insulated using a combination of fixed glass and vertical blinds to provide an effective windbreak whilst maintaining the view.
- Finally, the retractable roof completed the transformation, providing complete flexibility for either indoor or outdoor seating.
