The Edinburgh Festival Fringe
Since opening in 1985, the Pleasance courtyard has become one of the most popular venues at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. In 2010, the organisation approached Loca Shading Designs to supply umbrellas that would provide shelter and shade for the duration of the annual festival. Seven giant 4.5 metre square Uhlmann umbrellas offer long-term durability and ease of use. Fitted with heaters and lights, they provide comfort for festival goers in any weather conditions, both day and night. Loca Shading Designs provide a fully bespoke service for the festival organisation, installing the umbrellas each July, then dismantling them on a return visit at the end of the festival in August. They are meticulously cleaned and stored at our warehouse in readiness for the following year. Ten years on, the umbrellas (as well as the working relationship) are still going strong.
